Through her creative vision and growing global presence, she is committed to bringing Ethiopian couture to the international stage while preserving the artistry, heritage, and cultural stories that inspire each creation.
THE HOUSE
Drawing inspiration from Ethiopia’s rich cultural heritage, the brand crafts elegant and meaningful clothing that blends authenticity with modern sophistication and celebrates identity, self-expression, and cultural pride.
The name “Hindeke” reflects grace, resilience, charisma, and cultural resonance, positioning the label as a bridge between timeless tradition and contemporary design. At the heart of our brand is a belief that fashion is how you tell your story to the world.
CREATIVE VISION
Hindeke’s creative vision is centered on elevating Ethiopian tradition into a contemporary couture language.
The design process begins with the fabric itself—particularly the color and texture of textiles such as Menen and Saba—or with the development of intricate embroidery. These elements guide the direction of each piece.
Through this approach, Hindeke creates garments that express confidence, elegance, and identity while connecting Ethiopian heritage with a global audience.
EMBROIDERY
The Art of Ethiopian Heritage, Stitched into Every Detail
At Hindeke by Hiwot, embroidery is more than decoration — it is an expression of identity, artistry, and cultural memory.
Rooted in Ethiopia’s rich textile heritage, Hindeke Embroidery brings together traditional Ethiopian aesthetics and contemporary couture craftsmanship. Each embroidered detail is thoughtfully developed to complement the garment’s silhouette, texture, and story, transforming fabric into a distinctive expression of elegance and individuality.
Our embroidery draws inspiration from Ethiopian cultural traditions, historical garments, ceremonial dress, nature, and the intricate patterns that form part of our visual heritage. Through a considered combination of thread, color, texture, beadwork, appliqué, and dimensional embellishment, we create designs that balance cultural depth with a modern couture sensibility.
Every creation reflects our commitment to detail, creativity, and the art of garment-making. Embroidery is integrated into the design process as an essential element of the garment — shaping its character, enhancing its structure, and bringing the designer’s vision to life.
Our philosophy is simple: every stitch should carry meaning, every detail should express beauty, and every creation should tell a story.
SUSTAINABILITY
Hindeke by Hiwot incorporates sustainability through its made-to-measure and custom-order model, producing garments specifically for individual clients rather than through mass production or ready-to-wear manufacturing. This approach helps minimize overproduction and unnecessary inventory while allowing materials and craftsmanship to be carefully considered for each piece. The brand also works with Ethiopian handwoven textiles and traditional craft techniques, supporting the continued use and development of local materials and skills. Hindeke by Hiwot focuses on creating durable, timeless couture pieces designed to be valued beyond seasonal trends.
Hindeke by Hiwot places strong emphasis on Ethiopian craftsmanship and the preservation of traditional textile and embroidery practices. The brand works with local artisans and craftspeople whose skills contribute to the development of each couture piece, creating a connection between contemporary fashion and Ethiopia’s cultural heritage. By incorporating Ethiopian handwoven textiles, embroidery, and artisanal techniques into contemporary couture, the brand seeks to keep these skills visible, valued, and relevant to new generations. This approach is central to Hindeke by Hiwot’s “Crowned Heritage” philosophy, where cultural preservation, craftsmanship, and contemporary design come together.
